Obituary

William (Bill) Rainier, 92-year-old Grove resident, passed away Wednesday morning July 3, 2024, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo. He was born June 12, 1932, in Brownfield, Texas to Ray and Minnie Rainwater.

His father, being a Church of God pastor, ministered in the west Texas and southeastern New Mexico region allowing the family to live in various locations throughout Bill's childhood. Bill joined the military at the age of 17 and proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He was a radio operator on a B-25 Bomber, from 1950 to 1953. In June 1954, he married the love of his life, Willadean Burdge. Bill worked as a machinist / tool & die maker for many years. His time in the Air Force led him to a lifelong passion of flying. He piloted and maintained his own aircraft and served as a missionary bush pilot in Mexico and Central America. He was a member of New Song Church in Grove. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to estate auctions and working in his shop.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Robertson and his brothers, Clyde Rainwater, Jimmy Rainwater and Monty Rainwater.

The surviving family includes his wife, Willadean Rainier and his children, Alan Rainier and wife Renae, Sandy Boswell and husband Steve, Beverly Kincaid and husband Jaret and Kimberly Nixon and husband Bill. He is also survived by one sister, Peggy Ward; one brother, Carroll Rainwater; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

The celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at New Song Church in Grove. Pastor Marty Dyer will officiate. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion ritual team.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
