IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wendell Wayne
Garner
October 4, 1940 – September 7, 2019
Wendell Wayne Garner, 78, of Marionville, MO, passed away September 7, 2019, in Monett, MO. He was born in Garfield, AR, October 4, 1940, to Roy and Marie Garner. Wayne was married to Sandy Marks and they shared nearly thirty wonderful years together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jimmy and Bobby Garner; and two sisters that died in infancy. Wayne's father was killed in a tragic traffic accident when he was only eleven and his mother, Marie, raised him by herself.
Wayne graduated high school in Aurora in 1958 and was proud to have been a "Houn' Dog". After serving in the US Air Force, Wayne worked awhile in construction and then for the Chicago Northwest Railroad. He took early retirement from the railroad in 1989 and moved to Branson, MO, where he owned the Corner Deli and soon met Sandy. Later he owned Garner's General Store in Billings and Aurora and the Long John Silver's. After retiring, he raised reining horses and cattle on his small property in Marionville.
Wayne was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Gideons of Greene County West, Republic, MO. Wayne was a talker and his joy in life was making someone smile. He did this wherever he went for both friends and strangers.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Garner; children, Greg (Cherri) Garner, Candace Garner, Christina Walden, and Mike (Jennifer) Garner; stepsons, Russell and Weston Marks; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
