Obituary

Violet Mae Griffith, age 80, died at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

Vi is survived by three sons, Rick Parkes of Garden Plain, KS, Randy Parkes (Jana) of Arkansas City, KS, and Paul Robison (Karla) of Ozark, MO; son-in-law, Randy Fender (Gwen) of Fair Grove, MO; four daughters, Diane Bortz (Galen) of Gillette, WY; Brenda Brekken and Kennett Griffith of Republic, MO, and Katie Fender of Springfield, MO. She has 11 grandkids and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. "Bill" & Martina M. Randall; brother, John Wayne Randall; two sisters, Elenore and Coleen; husband, Bill Robison; and one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Violet was born July 1, 1939, in Blackwell, OK, and attended schools there. She was a working mother and a waitress for most of her life. She lived in Wichita, KS, for about 17 years and moved to Springfield, MO, in 1973. She later moved to Republic, MO, in 1989. She has been deeply involved in the area schools for the disabled, holding many positions such as board of directors, treasurer, & sponsoring a bowling team (Strike Force) for over 25 years. She also had her own catering business and really enjoyed watching the New York Yankees.

She enjoyed making crafts, such as crochet blankets, dolls and Christmas ornaments. Her biggest pleasure for the majority of her life was being the caregiver for her daughter, Kennett, who is a social, active young lady who is involved in ceramics, bowling and reading. Vi's family and friends will always remember her as a caring and kind person.

Visitation will be held from 4-4:30 PM, with services to follow at 4:30 PM, Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Midwest Cremation at Funeral Services, 2026 W. Woodland St., Springfield, MO with Pastor Phifer officiating. Flowers can be sent to the above address.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Violet's life. A dinner is planned at Vi's residence in Republic after the service. The family would like to thank many friends for their love and concern.
