Obituary

Vernon "Pete" Leonard Hayes was born September 2nd, 1941, in Magnolia, West Virginia. He passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 84 years of age. He was preceded in death 4 months prior by the love of his life, Margaret (Marge) Annie French Hayes; together for 63 years of loving marriage, and now together again.

Pete worked at Grove Manufacturing company for 28 years and retired. He started out in the shop, later moving to the position of drafting engineer. He finished his career as a representative for the company in the Sales, Service and Warranty Division.

One of his favorite things to do was go vacationing with his loving wife, Marge. Their favorite places to visit were Yellowstone National Park and Alaska.

Pete and Marge are survived by his three children, Tony L Hayes and spouse Neccica D Hayes, Angelia D Hayes Oliver and spouse Charles D Oliver, and Thomas L Hayes; grandchildren, Cheyenne M Klapp and Dalton L Waggoner; great-grandchildren, Kolby L Klapp and Kathleena K Klapp and Ezekiel J Waggoner and Dalton's second child arriving the end of December 2025; his sisters, Janie Wolford and Ella J Allen; brother, Benny M King; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pete was also a loving brother-in-law, cousin and uncle to his spouse Marge's family of which there are too many to list, but they all loved Pete and were all loved by Pete.

Pete and his loving wife, Marge, are and will be missed dearly. We love you " Pop & Mom", "Pappy & Granny" and will carry on your examples of love and family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
