Vernon Ray Carter, son of Charlie and Edna Carter was born February 2, 1938, and went to his heavenly home on September 1, 2025.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Jerry and Jack.

Surviving is his wife, Fredna; children, Terry Carter of Springfield and Vernica Vandivort (Larry) of Houston, MO. Vernon had 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Vernon was born and raised in Houston, MO, graduating and entering straight into the US Navy, where he served 4 years. During his service with the Navy, he met and married the love of his life, Fredna. The two would have celebrated 67 years of marriage in October of this year.

Vernon loved the Lord and his family. He was an avid Bible scholar and studied his Bible daily. His biggest hope and prayer was that everyone in his family would accept Jesus into their hearts.

Vernon was a notorious prankster and always kept you on your toes. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by family and friends.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
