Obituary

Vera Marie (Bixler) Arnold, 68, of Branson West, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014, in Cox Hospital-Branson. She was born in Granite City, IL, on September 6, 1946, to Robert and Anna-Roy Bixler. Vera graduated from Granite City High School in 1964. For many years, she worked for Bussman Fuses in St. Louis. Vera was very creative, loved crafting, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved serving in her church. Vera married Samuel Arnold on October 16, 1992. Together, they loved to travel in their fifth wheel across the US and served in the Calvary Baptist Church of Kimberling City, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel L. Arnold; parents, Robert and Anna-Roy Bixler; brother, George Bixler; and niece, Angie Anderson. Vera is survived by her daughter, Melissa Dement of Rockaway Beach, MO; sons, Sam Arnold, Jr. and wife Jill of Temecula, CA, Michael Wayne of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, James Randell and wife Kim of Bakersfield, CA; siblings, Robert Bixler and wife Lynn of Reeds Spring, MO; Helen Tuley and husband Jim of Fort Gay, WV, Daniel Bixler and wife Charlotte of Stanford, KY, Hilda Anderson and husband Floyd of East Alton, IL, and Mark Bixler and wife Glenda of Granite City, IL; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Shannon, Chad, and Megan; and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins; and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, in the First Baptist Church of Kimberling City, 2 Lakeshore Drive, Kimberling City, MO with funeral services starting at 11 AM on Monday, December 22, 2014. Graveside services will follow at 1 PM in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church of Kimberling City, MO-Building Fund.
