June 7, 1934 – June 25, 2016
Dr. Twila N. Davis Bridges, 82, of Springfield, went to be with her Lord on June 25, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born to Nina (Bumgarner) and E. Glen King on June 7, 1934, in Linden, MO.
Twila began her teaching career at Olive School. She later taught at Shady Grove, Fair Grove, Republic and Springfield Public Schools. She served as president of the Springfield Teacher's Association. She and her first husband, Lloyd "Dub" Davis, founded Agape Life Fellowship Church in Springfield, MO, where she served as pastor for 25 years. She was a member of the International Conference of Faith Ministries. Twila accepted the Lord as her Savior as a child.
Twila was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd "Dub" Davis of 57 years; her parents; and four siblings.
Surviving Twila are her husband of 5 years, John K. Bridges; two children, Rick Davis and wife Leslie and Marti Toman and husband Darvin; two sisters, Nina McKee and Hilma Silvey; one brother, Karl King; three grandchildren, Salena Hulland and husband Jeff, Casey Davis and wife Buffy, McKenzie Davis, and Chris Givens; four great-grandchildren, Taylor and Blake Hulland, Marek Quiring and Isabella Davis. She is also survived by three step-children, Darin Bridges and wife Michelle, Jodi Lemoine and husband Todd, Brandi Stennett and fiancé Greg Altom; six step-grandchildren, Isaac Bridges, Sloan and Chaz Stennett, Talon, Quinn and Nicholas Lemoine.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 1 PM, in the Agape Life Fellowship Church, 6185 W. State Highway 266, Springfield, MO with Dr. Larry Ollison officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agape Life Fellowship.
The family would like to especially thank Michelle Cartwright and the other caregivers from Hospice Compassus for their love and care.
