Toy Arthur
Hill
December 16, 1946 – July 22, 2022
Toy A. Hill, 75, passed away in his home in Willard, Mo., July 22, 2022. He was born Dec. 16, 1946, in Aurora, Mo., to Wilmer and Bettye (Melton) Hill. His family and friends are comforted knowing he is now reunited with loved ones in Heaven.
Toy and Sharon K. (Smith) Hill were married Dec. 3, 1966, in Springfield. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps followed by the Naval Reserves before working at Consumers for more than 20 years. He then dedicated his career to protect and serve our community, first as an officer with the Springfield Police Department for several years, then with the Greene County Sheriff's Department. Toy moved up the ranks from deputy to detective and finally retired from the Civil Service Division after nearly 20 years with the Sheriff's Department.
He was a lifetime hobbyist, from riding the countryside with Sharon on Harley-Davidson and Goldwing motorcycles to driving across the states in their Miatas. His favorite destination was always Jacksonville, Fla., although for many years, he could be found at Roaring River State Park on opening day of trout season for fishing and camping with family. Toy also loved music and was an avid history buff, taking every opportunity to read and learn more.
Toy was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest brother Mick Hill, and his son Jeremy Hill. He is survived by his wife Sharon; brother, Rick Hill and his wife Pat of Springfield; brother, Steve and his wife Kathy of Springfield; daughter, Lisa Hanson and her husband Jowell of Atlanta. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jordan and Jackson Hill of Springfield, and Amelia Hill and her daughter Bexley Buechler of Republic, Mo.; his lifelong friend Toy considered his brother, Harvey "Junior" Chase and his wife Terry of Remington, Va.; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
