Obituary

Timothy "Tim" Joseph Sterrett, 67 of North Kansas City, MO loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle passed in his home May 30,2022.

Tim was born February 12, 1955 (a birthdate he proudly and not shyly, shared with President Abraham Lincoln) in Norton, Kansas to Raymond "Pappy" and Mary Rose Sterrett. He was the sixth of seven rowdy boys (Pat, Jack, Mike, Dick, Bob and Brad).

He played basketball, football, track and field (for ONE whole practice) and the french horn for the Norton Blue Jays. Tim also loved doing anything that allowed him to spend more time with his brothers including starring in musicals, pheasant hunting, masterfully delivering the Norton Tribune, constantly testing Mary Roses' patience in mass and of course skillfully attempting to sneak in past Pappy after curfew. This silly, spiteful spirit that was most definitely encouraged by the older brothers almost prevented him from walking at his high school graduation as he defiantly refused to remove his "radical" bowtie.

Climbing telephone poles for AT&T, driving a school bus for the Council Grove school district and serving tacos at the Taco Grande were among a few of his many jobs before finally graduating from Kansas State University in 1979. Tim never let his Wildcats go though as he continued to "coach" them via am radio and/or television (a lot of times both). They never quite had the winning streak he envisioned but he just "couldn't help but love them".

Shortly after graduation he joined his brother Mike, at Impact that would later become Examinetics. There he tirelessly worked his way up from driver and hearing technician to Senior Vice President of Operations, his final title at retirement. He was fondly remembered as kind, humble and of course a constant prankster.

In 1976, he married Deanna Fisher and they had their daughter Ann in 1981 and son Cameron in 1984. In 1988, he married the love of his life Terry Wilford and they shared raising Lori, Chris, Aaron and Josh. He was always found with at least three kids around his neck at the pool, outside playing catch, pretending to watch "Jesus Loves Me" with the boys and going on long adventures in the creek. A true kid at heart; meant being with the kids was something he found easy.

A die-hard Kansas City Royals fan, Tim had season tickets for many years and cheered them on each season as if he were just sure "this was going to be their year". He loved road trips and even caught spring training this year on what would be his last scenic drive. He was also an avid history buff, which he shared with his brother Bob and would love nothing more than a history channel marathon, long stroll through any museum and diving into a new thick historic novel.

Tim has joined his parents; brothers Dick, Bob, Mike and Father Brad; step-son Chris Uhock, sister-in-law Sharon Sterrett in what is surely nothing but a huge group hug in heaven.

He is survived by his wife Terry, children Ann, Cam, Lori, Aaron and Josh; grandchildren Jordy, Oakley, Emerson, Kennedy, Carter, Liam, Eva, Tyler, Rachael, Jack, Katie, Jordan and Joey; son-in-law Brett, daughter-in-law Nicole, brothers Pat (wife Jeannette, children Sam and Carrie), Jack (wife Quenideen, children Sarah and Nick), sister-in-law Connie (children Paul and Bethany), Sue (Mike's life partner), nieces Stacey and Morgan and nephews Chad and Michael and their families.

The man who knew no stranger and ensured inclusivity with his big heart, big smile and quick wit will always be remembered for his compassion for others.

We love you.
