Sue Manning of Springfield, Missouri passed away in her sleep on November 3, 2015 at the age of 91. Sue was born on February 14, 1924 in Grainola, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Lawrence William and Jeanette Harriett (Matthews) McCrory and the only girl of their five children. Sue was the fourth born of the five children and was always known as vivacious, extraverted, and determined. She always decided what she wanted to do and did it, full force and without fear. It was that love of life and determination that drove her throughout her entire life. Sue graduated from Marshfield High School and set out to explore adventure shortly thereafter. She lived a glamorous life in St. Louis and then in Hollywood, California where she would later comment that she came across many famous movie stars, but none who impressed her all that much. That spunk and fun loving attitude is what would characterize Sue for years to come. She always spoke of that time with great fondness as the best of her entire life. After returning to Springfield, Missouri she married Leo Manning and had four children. They later divorced and in her mid-30's she began her career as a beautician. For 44 years, Sue served a loyal customer base and lent an ear and a word of advice to patrons across town. She was known for going the extra mile for her clients and always helping them look their best for every occasion. Sue was a Christian and knew well that Jesus was her Savior. Although she loved living life, she knew that she was going to be with Jesus when she passed, and that gave her great comfort. Sue is survived by her daughter, Pam White; her son, Tim Manning; 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two of her brothers and their wives, Ed and Pat McCrory and Jean and Judy Beth McCrory. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Manning; her daughter, Jill Horn; her brother, William McCrory; and her brother, Frank McCrory. A celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, November 10th at 2 pm at the James River Church South Campus in Clark Chapel. A visitation hour will take place at 1 pm in Clark Chapel for close friends and family just prior to the service. Flowers may be sent to James River South Campus in honor of Sue Manning.
