Steven Ray Dodson, 68, of Springfield, Missouri, passed on from his physical life February 6, 2017. He was born October 19, 1948, to Curtis Ray and Betty June Dodson in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Stevie was an exceptional athlete growing up in Republic, MO, competing in track, football and baseball. He was also an insightful poet and writer in his spare time. He worked as a respiratory therapist in Springfield for several years. His biggest accomplishment being that he dedicated the majority of his life to helping others in the AA community and fellowship.

Stevie is survived by his stepfather, Max Gilmore; sisters, Sandra Dodson and Faith Ann Tracy and husband Mark; son, Christopher Dodson, daughters, Amy Foster and husband Shane and Joselyn Dodson; grandsons, Steven "Chase" Calverly, Michael Foster, Ethan Dodson, William "Tyrone" Leath, Cainan Studtman; granddaughters, Ashton Brooke Dodson and Tylisha Leath; and many other loving family and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Dodson; mother, Betty Gilmore, brother, Frank "Maxie" Gilmore; son, Curtis Dodson; and daughter, Alison Dodson.

Stevie lived bravely, with courage, strength, and grace. He will live on through the people whose lives he touched. He will forever be loved and remembered.

No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield.
