Shirley Ann Blevins, age 78, passed away on December 2, 2015 in Christian County, MO surrounded by family at her bedside. She was born on July 26, 1937 in Springfield, MO the daughter of Beulah and Raymond Forbis.

Shirley's life was a unique American experience. During her life she lived across the continent including Long Island, NY, Chicago, IL and Portland, OR. She was a particularly skilled cook, having been the kitchen manager at the Christian County favorite Raines Sisters Café during the late 1970's. She owned and operated the Blevins Short Stop in Nixa, MO from 1995 to 2002 which was popular for her daily lunch specials. She then opened Ma & Pa Blevins Catering which was dedicated to serving American Legion events and their members.

Shirley was a graduate of the Draughon School of Business, a licensed cosmetologist, local child care provider and a decorated amateur bowler.

She is preceded in death by her ex-husband Clayton Arthur Shackelford, her parents and her brother James Forbis.

She is survived by her husband Donnie Blevins (Nixa), her sister Betty Loonsfoot (Springfield) and her brother Robert Forbis (Springfield). Her children Clayton Shackelford and wife Julie (Nixa), Kathi Hawkins and husband Jeff (Ozark), Barbara Miller and husband Steve (Ozark), Lynn Vermont and husband Mike (Nixa), Susie Tyler (Cape Fair), Cookie Blevins and wife Julie (Halltown), and Dawn Hodge (Nixa). Shirley was the matriarch of a large blended family, blessed to be survived by 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren she affectionately referred to as her "little stinkers."

The family invites her friends to attend a memorial service to celebrate her life on Saturday, January 9th, 2016 to be held at Countryside Christian Church (3350 W. Jackson St. Nixa, MO 65714) at 1:00 P.M.
