Obituary
Sherry Elaine Gates, 56, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2017. Sherry was born October 28, 1960, to Robert C. Small and Jane A. Small in Vincennes, IN.
Sherry attended Kickapoo High School in Springfield, MO. As a child, she enjoyed riding motorcycles, water skiing, as well as many other outdoor activities.
Sherry was married to Paul R. Gates in 1976 and had 3 children, Joshua, Crystal, Laura and later divorced. She worked several years as a dental assistant, as well as various customer service positions.
Sherry was a very loving, compassionate person. She loved her family and her children were the most important thing in her life. Sherry had a strong love for animals, including her cat, Jasmine.
Sherry was preceded in death by her father; her daughter Laura; and her fiancee, Edward (Eddie) Walkingstick.
She is survived by her mother, Jane Small; brother, Jeff Small, both of Missouri; children, Joshua Gates & wife of Kansas, Crystal Ramsey & husband of Oklahoma; as well as 3 grandchildren, Austin, Raini, & Caden.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Humane Society of Southwest Missouri.
