IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheron
Asbury
August 30, 1943 – February 12, 2026
Sheron "Sherry" Lee Asbury, 82, of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born August 30, 1943, to Frank and Loretta (Argentine) Laisch in Evergreen Park, IL. She married her high school sweetheart Jerry Bilton Sr., the father of her four children. Her Catholic faith and Italian heritage were important to her. She grew up and loved the Chicago area and was a lifelong fan of the Bears and Cubs but made Springfield her adopted home.
Sherry focused on raising her children but when life's circumstances changed, she became a working single mother. One thing you could say about Sherry is she was dedicated to her work and a social butterfly; serving as a staffing coordinator for many years, at the information desk at Cox North, and finally in the Greene County Assessor's office where she always joked, she was the complaint department before she retired in 2020. Throughout the years she met many people and touched and changed many people's lives.
Sherry lived many places and experienced the variety of life for which she would share her memories whenever she could before dementia took them from her. She was proud of being a certified pilot and would tell stories of her plane and first solo flight. Everyone has a spicy Sherry story and will remember her for her biting sense of humor. Outside of work, Sherry loved shopping, watching movies, spending time with her lovable dogs and couch buddies Maximillian Bleu, Puddin Pop, and Smoot Ma Hootie as well as being ornery as she would always joke to people. She was nothing but trouble but our trouble.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, beloved son Jerry Bilton, and ex-husband Donald Asbury. She is survived by her twin brother Frank Laisch Jr. of Orlando, FL; sister Sandie (Gab) Bultinck of Rapid River, MI; son BJ (Karen) Bilton of Springfield, MO; daughter Barbara Bilton of Lowell, AR; and daughter Bonnie Alexander of Niangua, MO. Her grandchildren include Candice Combs, Beth (Jason) Muir, Derrick Bilton, Justin Alexander and several loved great grandchildren, and many more friends and family including her beloved friend and daughter-in-law's mother Kathy Wade. Her memory will be in our hearts and live through the memories, pictures and stories we all share.
The family wishes to thank the support team at Integrity Hospice for the loving care and support given to Sherry and their dedication to helping our family through her end-of-life journey.
The family will hold a Visitation on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services 2026 W Woodland St Springfield, MO 65807. Her final resting place will be Holland Cemetery in Rogersville, MO following a private family graveside gathering.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to wear some yellow, and to watch several Tom Hanks films and have a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios in Sherry's honor and/or make a donation in her name to Tri-Lakes Humane Society in Reeds Spring https://www.tri-lakeshumanesoc.org/.
