IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shawn
Paul
August 22, 1971 – March 6, 2025
Shawn Daniel Paul, 53, from Oroville California, passed away March 6th in Springfield, MO. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Paul of Lebanon, MO; son, Anthony Paul of Gridley, CA; stepdaughters, Bailey and Cadence VanGundy of Gridley, MO; his parents, Janice and Jim Meeth of Lebanon, MO; his father, Danny Paul of Oroville, CA; his sister, Shannon Reynolds of Lebanon, MO; nephew, Clint Padilla and family; nieces, Caitlyn Paul, Emmaleigh and Caisen Paul of Lebanon, MO; and his extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Shawn was a man who led a tumultuous life, much to do with head injuries sustained as a child. His life wasn't lawful much of the time, but he died a hero showing his true character. This man, who didn't follow society's norms, was authentic and lived in the manner unique to himself. For those who chose to look beyond tattoos, his past, and his colorful language, they found a beautiful soul. That is the man we remember.
A man who was funny, quick witted, and had no impulse control, so your every encounter would make you laugh. Often at your own expense. When he was not on one of his mini vacations at the D.O.C. he had a joint in his mouth with candy nearby. He loved guns and target shooting.
A man who was a gifted self-taught artist, both on paper and skin. His body was his canvas. It marked his past, both the dark and the light. A natural talent he shared with many others.
Shawn was a protector. His family, friends, and pets were all recipients of this. His memes were at times inappropriate, but his intent came from a place of love and loyalty. He always surrounded himself with friends who felt these qualities in his presence. He was not a man who could be alone. Those who chose to keep his company enjoyed a wild ride of laughter, adventure, sometimes on the edge of legality. We all went for that ride a few times. Being a part of Shawn's life wasn't always easy, but none of us would do it any differently.
Lastly, Shawn had a love and a tenderness with animals. They were drawn to him, like many of the people of his life. They allowed him an avenue to love unconditionally. His dogs were his life. Through all of his personal struggles, this tattooed-covered gruff man could not hide the tenderness that remained in his core. It was these innate qualities of love and loyalty that he chose to give his life for...protecting his friends and the dogs that were his heart. with no thought of his own safety, Shawn saved 11 people and his three big pitties. He left this world holding the two he couldn't save.
This is the man we remember. RIP Brother
