IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon
Lasher
December 16, 1939 – January 28, 2025
Sharon Kay Lasher (Holmquist), 85, of Springfield, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Sharon was born December 16, 1939, to Alta (AC) and Geraldine (Greer) Brown in Lansing, MI. She attended school in Charlotte, MI.
Sharon had a calling at a very young age to be in the ministry. After High School she attended North Central Bible College where she met her husband, John Holmquist. John was ordained in the Assembly of God Church and their first pastorate was in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Their children, Becky and Tim, were born in Sturgeon Bay. John and Sharon would continue in the ministry, pastoring in Cadillac, MI, Charlotte, MI, Rapid City, SD, and Sydney, MT. Sharon loved to serve in the church. She played piano, taught children's church and Sunday school, sang in the choir and trios, worked with the youth group, and was a big support to John. While in Sydney, MT, Sharon got her Master's Degree in Christian counseling and was able to help many with her wisdom and prayers. Prior to moving to Sydney, MT, John and Sharon served as Missionaries in Hong Kong. This changed her life! She was always thinking of the Filipinos, and she made life-long friends. They were her heart.
Sharon married John Lasher in 2003 and moved to Virginia. Upon John's retirement they purchased a camper and began touring the United States. They ultimately chose Springfield, MO, as their home. She met and made a forever friend in Kim Mullen. She joked that they were the classic characters of Lucy and Ethel in the I Love Lucy Show. They had a lot of laughs and fun times together.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, AC and Geraldine Brown, her husband, John Holmquist, her brother, Ronald Brown, mother-in-law, Ruth Weekley, brothers-in-law, Richard (Ginger), Sibert (Blanche), Walter, Ivan (Jeany), and sister-in-law, Irene Holmquist.
She is survived by her second husband, John Lasher, daughter, Becky (Jim), son, Tim (Nancy), foster children, Dorothy, Sherry, and Margie, her grandchildren, Matt (Katie), Marc (Candace), Allen (Sonya), Jon, and Becca (Scott), great grandchildren, Lucas, Evelyn, Benjamin, Jane, Noah, and Allison, nephews, Gary and Brad, niece, Charlotte, sister-in-law, Alice, brothers-in-law, Melvin (Patricia), and Ben (Cindy.)
