Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Sean Couch of Springfield, Missouri. He was born November 16, 1968, in Kansas City, MO, to Robert and Norma Couch, and passed away February 22, 2025, at the age of 56.

When Sean was born, his family lived in Grandview, MO. A few years later they moved to Southwest, Missouri, where Sean went to school in Humansville, Skyline, Urbana, and then attended 7th grade Fremont, NE, 8th grade in Reeds Spring, while his family lived in Kimberling City. Sean then moved to Springfield, MO, where he attended Hillcrest High School.

Growing up, Sean enjoyed many the friends that he accumulated easily, spending time at his grandparents' home at Pomme De Terre Lake, in Urbana, Missouri. He loved swimming, boating, water-skiing, and fishing with his grandparents, Willard and Veta Green, mainly at Haverstick Cove. Sean enjoyed riding his bicycle and exploring the woods and outdoors, going to his 2nd cousin, Terry Green's farm, riding horses and taking care of many different kinds of farm animals. Sean also loved dogs very much, including Beni and Spiker. Later in life he also had several dogs, including Peaches, Shadow, Goose and Tonka. After high school, Sean started working as a Sweeper Truck Driver and Head bouncer at the Townhouse Lounge, where he acquired the name "Smiley".

In 1995, Sean would meet his wife, LeAnn, and they were married and lived in Springfield. In 1997, Sean and LeAnn purchased a house on N. National St. and Sean started working for a courier service called BAM Cartage. He continued working there until his passing and was the manager for the last 15 years. He was employed there for 28- or 29-years total. Sean was a very kind-hearted man who was caring and helped out several people in his life, including friends and family members with jobs and even a temporary place to live!

Sean loved building his hot rod classic car, a 1956 Chevy Impala SS. He also loved many sports such as Pro Football, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid fisherman with his own boat who caught many, many large catfish, bass, crappie, and muskie! He also did some spoonbill fishing. He was a pro with a fishing pole and could put out a trout line all the way across a lake/river channel with at least 36 hooks on it! His favorite fishing spot was called the Avery Bottoms on Truman Lake south of Warsaw, MO.

Sean also loved going to yard sales, auctions, and looking for rare and valuable antiques and collectibles.

We all Love and Miss You Sean! You will never be forgotten! Though Sean has departed his earthly realm, his legacy endures – a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May their spirit soar on the wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
