Obituary

Sandra "Sandi" Sue Smith passed away on Monday, June 10th, 2024, at her home in Springfield, MO due to pancreatic cancer. Sandi was born in Fort Wayne, IN on March 24, 1946, and was 78 at the time of her passing.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar & Clara Smith of Cassville MO; her brother, David Leon Smith; and her son, Kevin Kirk Trummel.

Sandi led a full and active life, and her greatest joy was her family: children, Kipp Trummel (Karen) and Katrina Bright (Randy); grandchildren, Kia Vasquez (Fritz) and Nicholas Lowe; nieces and nephews, David (Susan), AC and Tannise; and great grandchildren, Fred and Oliver.

Sandi worked 29 years for the state of Missouri, earning her Professional Secretary's Certification and helping families along the way. After retirement, Sandi enjoyed her many friends at the Senior Center and spending time playing cornhole/Baggo, Farmtown and playing with her dogs. She loved outdoors and could often be found riding her motorcycle in the countryside to take pictures of nature or in her backyard tending to her sunflowers and hummingbirds. She stayed active until the end, enjoying ballgames and video games with the little ones and good food and conversation with all of us. She was generous with her time and money and love.

She was a ray of sunshine with the biggest smile for everyone. She loved a conspiracy theory, a tantalizing mystery and a good laugh. She was a talker, a dreamer and loved unconditionally.

Sandi requested no services after she was gone, but did request one thing: Remind everyone to hug their mom.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
