Robin Leitz, 89, of Strafford, MO passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024. He was born January 26, 1935, to Henry and Ilda Leitz in Plummer, ID. The youngest of five children, Robin grew up on a farm just east of Plummer. He graduated Plummer High School in 1953 and worked for his father and other local farmers until enlisting in the US Army in 1957. He served with the 302nd Army Security Agency Battalion in Herzogenaurach, Germany, until his discharge in 1960. In 1965, he married Elaine Mathews. They had three children, Chris, Alicia, and Eric, and later divorced.

Robin worked various jobs after returning home from Germany before being hired by the Potlatch St. Maries complex. For many years he was the chip & saw operator, retiring in 1997 after 31 years with the company.

Robin enjoyed road trips short and long. In his life, he had visited nearly every state in the country, almost always by car (the exception being Hawaii). He was generous with his talents and helped many family members with home improvement projects and repairs. He was also well known for his quick wit and for pulling pranks on close friends and family. Many nieces, nephews, and other young relatives spent fruitless hours looking for the pinky finger he lost in 1976.

In September of 2023, Robin packed up his house and moved to Missouri to join his companion Sue and explore a different region of the country. It was the first time in his life having an official residence outside Benewah County. Together they went on many road trips and saw many of the shows in Branson, his favorite being the Dolly Parton Stampede.

Robin was one of those rare souls who touched everyone he came into contact with. He never gave up his dad card. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Welda Cross, his brothers Dee, Bill, and Jack, and nephews Kerry Cross, Tim Leitz, and Dan Leitz.

Robin is survived by his son Chris Leitz of Saint Maries, ID, his daughter Alicia (Tony) Ferguson of Spokane Valley, WA, son Eric (Theresa) Leitz of Lamona, WA, grandson Jacob Ferguson of Spokane Valley, WA, various nieces and nephews and relatives through marriage, and his beloved companion Sue Chapman of Strafford, MO.

A celebration of life will take place on March 9 at 2:00 pm at the Plummer American Legion post.
