Obituary

Robert Werner, 78, of Springfield, MO, passed away November 20, 2020.

Bob was born August 20, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, to Murray and Bella (Cohen) Werner. He earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY, in 1968. After serving in the Army in Korea, he completed a residency in Psychiatry in 1975 and joined Kaiser Group in Los Angeles, CA. In 1985 he earned a Ph.D. from the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute, and then moved to Minneapolis, MN where he practiced medicine, provided therapy and taught medical and psychoanalytic students until he retired in 2013.

Bob loved being a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. He never tired of learning and observing. He was always fascinated by human experience, and he loved helping his patients. Bob also loved classical music and listened to music nearly every day. A healthy lifestyle and physical fitness were also important to him, from winning medals in high school track to bicycling the Tuscan hills of Italy. In addition to a busy work schedule, he made time to cook, run, bicycle or hike.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Arnold. He is survived by his two children, Miriam (Gabriel Gomez) and Simeon (Julia Keen), two grandchildren, Milo Gomez and Juniper Keen, and his long-time fiancée, Jeanette Nelson.

At Bob's request, there is no memorial service.
