Obituary

Robert Franklin Hopkins Sr., 87, of Springfield, MO passed away Friday, April 18, 2025. He was born to Robert and Letha Hopkins in Picher, OK where he grew up playing in the chat piles with his best friend, Morris Peace.

Six weeks before Robert was to graduate high school he made the choice to quit school to support his mother, brother and sister after the death of his father. A decision that was a testament to his character, work ethic and desire to care and support his family. He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966 during which time he met and married Ruth B. Hopkins (Robertson). They had three children together and were married for 64 years. Once home from serving his country Robert would hold positions at Reyco Industries and Bus Andrews Truck Equipment before opening Missouri Sandblasting which he operated for 49 years until his death.

When he was able to find some free time, Robert enjoyed going to auctions, farm shows and the casino, tinkering with antique cars, and fishing and boating on Bull Shoals Lake. The thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and his Border Collie, Dutch. Family was everything to him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; mother, Letha; sister, Darlene; brother, Danny; and his great grandson, Jaxson.

Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth; his children, Robert and wife Connie, Sherry and husband Jimmy, and Michael; his grandkids, Justin, Jessica, Bailie, James, Megan, and Michael; and his ten great grandkids.

The family would like to give special thanks to all of the care team at St. Croix Hospice with a heartfelt special thank you to "Our Angels" Jennifer and Bonnie.
