Robert "Bob" Paul Quillen of Reeds Spring, Missouri and formally of Boone, Iowa, died peacefully on June 2, 2021 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on October 9, 1934 in Fraser, Iowa to James and Martha (Sifford) Quillen. Bob graduated from Pilot Mound High School in Pilot Mound, Iowa.
On September 4, 1955 Bob married Shirley Ann Tilley; to this marriage they had two daughters, Cindy and Cheryl "Cherie". Shirley passed away in 1997. On June 13, 1998 Bob married Nancy Rai Miller and Nancy passed away in 2017.
Bob worked for many years at DeWitt Implement as a tractor mechanic in Ogden, Iowa until his retirement in 1998. Bob loved playing music with his guitars he had. He started out playing in several country bands and then a gospel band. He then heard bluegrass music and he loved it. He started out in a band called Boone County Bluegrass performing at many bluegrass festivals and then formed a band of his own called the Gospel Troubadours. After his band playing years, he continued attending bluegrass festivals and jamming with many friends until his passing.
Bob's greatest joy was seeing and spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his newest members, his two great-grandsons.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha; his wives, Shirley and Nancy; his brother, James Quillen; his twin sisters, Alice and Altha Quillen; and his sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Virgil "Buddy" Alison.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Craig) Madden of Boone, Iowa, and Cheryl "Cherie" Morrissey of Madrid, Iowa; grandchildren: Christopher(Elisabeth Ross) Ingram, Stacey (Tommy) Williams, Katie Morrissey (Garrett Pearson); great-grandchildren, Matthias Ingram and Fox Williams; sister, Mary (John) Coleman; niece, Joni (Steve) Nicoll and family; and nephew, Jim (Tina) Coleman and family.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday June 14, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Kimberling City, 2 Lakeshore Drive, Kimberling City, Missouri 65686 with Pastors James Talley and Randy Johnson officiating. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A private burial with the family will be at a later date after a celebration of life in Boone, Iowa.
