IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Kammerlohr
October 9, 1950 – January 13, 2024
Robert (Bob) Howard Kammerlohr died on 13 January 2024 at the Strafford Care Center, Strafford, Missouri. Bob was born on 9 October 1950 to Master Sergeant Arthur R. Kammerlohr, Sr and Mardell (Roberts) Kammerlohr at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi. As a "service brat" he traveled extensively finally coming to land in rural Northeast Tennessee near Ducktown, Tennessee. After graduation from Copper Basin High School, Copperhill, Tennessee, Bob worked various construction jobs. In 1970, he joined the US Navy and trained as a Gunners Mate. One of his proudest moments was being given the honor to man and fire the "Big Guns" on the Battleship USS New Jersey during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the "World" (the United States), he formed the Tri-Cities Construction company and almost overnight made his first million dollars. At the end of the first year of construction, he and his partners rented the entire 240 room Cleveland Motor Lodge, Cleveland, Tennessee from November to January. When the 3-month party was over, Bob and his company were bankrupt. With the Law on his trail for unpaid debt, he fled to Los Angles, California and took up the trade of heavy air compressor mechanic. For the next 30 years Bob behaved himself and became a nationally recognized expert on the maintenance of those huge machines. His reputation got him hired by Kansas City based Cullum & Brown Air Compressor. His expertise led him to expanding and improving the maintenance department of Cullum & Brown (Springfield, Missouri office). Many of the large companies within Springfield and surrounding area are indebted to him for having many years of worry-free operation. Bob is survived by his brother Arthur R. Kammerlohr, Jr. and his wife Sharron (Taylor) Kammerlohr. Brother-in-law Dean Mace (Rita's husband – Bob's sister, deceased); daughter Amanda (Smith) Hamrick lives in Springfield, sons Scott and Matt Smith, and granddaughter Sonja Densmore, nephews Shannon and Sean Kammerlohr. His wife Debby (Smith) Kammerlohr precedes him in death; one great niece: Isobel Frazelle; and two great nephews: Marshall and Jacob Byers. Bob specifically asked that no money or flowers be sent as a memorial. Instead, "tell them to spend the money on themselves and to have a good time doing it."
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
