Robert James Grund, 76, of Fordland, MO, passed away October 8, 2021. He was born January 2, 1945, in Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Earl Grund, US veteran; mother, Virginia Lynch; and beloved dog, Maxie.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine H. Reyes Grund of Pila Laguna, Philippines, retired nurse of 36 years; sister, Susan Linthicum and her son, Chance and his three children; brother, James Robert Grund, USN-CPO Retired; his children, Michelle Grund Deimel, Vernon Grund, Jay Nepomuceno, Josefine Burkholder, Elaine Serrano; 16 grandchildren that he was very proud of and happy to have.
He served the US Navy for 28 years and retired as Chief Petty Officer E-7. He loved and was proud to have served our country, and encouraged everyone to do so. After retiring from the Navy, Robert became a very good gardener, which also became one of his favorite activities. He also enjoyed cooking, watching TV and movies, and traveling to historical sites. Robert was also able to do many construction jobs in the house or outside.
As an active member of FBC Rogersville, MO Church, Robert loved singing as a tenor in the choir. He and his wife, Josie, enjoyed doing flower ministry at church, sharing beautiful exotic orchids and other flowers they grew in the greenhouse. He was also a member of the Springfield Orchid Society and loved it! He loved to help and share God's blessings.
He and Josie were married September 6, 2003 in San Diego, CA and stayed there for 2 years before moving to Fordland, MO. In California, they were members of San Diego Majestic Lions Club for two years. They have lived together in Fordland since May 2005, and really enjoyed the country life and meeting new friends and neighbors. He was an active member of the Bible Baptist Church in National City, CA. Services will also be held there with placement in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Point Loma, San Diego.
Robert will be deeply missed.
