Robert Allen Cater, Sr., 61, of Springfield, MO, passed away May 20, 2020. He was born March 28, 1959, in Detroit, MI, to Robert and Katherine Cater.

He was born in Detroit but grew up in Bay City, MI. Robert was talented in childhood sports like football, basketball and baseball and loved to play them with his dear friend, Johnny Powers. He certainly enjoyed his morning coffee and cigarette. He loved to play poker, cook, sing Karaoke, make people laugh, and shop in second hand stores. He also enjoyed sewing and actually made his kids' Halloween costumes when they were little. Robert was excellent at interior decorating and remodeling homes to his own liking. As an adult he often worked as a server and love it.  But most of all, Robert adored his children and grandchildren and was always very proud of them.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine; father, Robert; sister, Terry; and his nephew, Ronnie.

Robert is survived by his children, Robert Cater Jr and girlfriend Stacy, Joshua Cater and girlfriend Jeannine, Amanda Cater and boyfriend Ryan, Jeremy Cater and wife Melissa, Joey Cater and Shea Cater; 22 grandchildren; siblings, Darryl Cater, David Cater and Karen Cater; many nieces and nephews; and lots of dear friends that he loved very much.
