After a short battle with pancreatic cancer Richard Allen Murray died on Friday, January 6, 2017, in Cox South Hospital. He leaves behind two sons, Ronald and Robert Kahler.
Richard was born June 30, 1961, in Glendale, CA. He was adopted by his loving parents, Floyd and Christine Murray. He was a very active kid growing up. He played football and baseball. He also won many trophies throwing shot-put during track and field. He graduated from Escondido High School in California.
Richard was a martial arts practioner. He earned a second degree black belt in Taekwondo. He really enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and rock climbing. He had many friends in the rock climbing community. Richard's newest adventure was being a grandfather.
Richard is survived by his sons, Ronald Kahler and wife Catherine; Robert Kahler and wife Nicole; and grandchildren, Cooper and Cameron Kahler and Elijah Kahler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Christine Murray.
Richard requested to be cremated. His sons will keep the ashes. The family would like to give a special thanks to his friends that were there for him in his last few weeks, to the hospital staff that helped keep him comfortable, and to Midwest Cremation for making the arrangements.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2017, in the Chapel at Elfindale Mansion, 1701 S Fort. Ave, Springfield, MO.
