Richard William Meier, 78, of Springfield, MO passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024. He was born May 8, 1945, to Norris and Leona Meier in St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Leona Meier and an older brother, Norris "Sonny" Meier.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Charlotte Smith Meier; his children, Cindy Meier, Chris Meier and wife Jessica, and Gina Hubbs and husband Curtis; six grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his sister, Mary Bynum; his sister-in-law, Janet Meier; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard loved the Lord and his Grace Church family. It was a joy for him to worship with his brothers and sisters there. He was a veteran and continued his service retiring from the Army Reserves. Richard spent his career serving the community employed by the Missouri Department of Social Services for 34 years.

Richard loved being a grandparent and spending time with his family. He enjoyed many outdoor activities. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a fan of baseball in general.

A Memorial Service will be held April 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Grace Church, 1120 E. Farm Road 182 (Plainview Road), Springfield, MO.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Honor Flight of the Ozarks.
