Obituary

Richard Massey, 40, passed away in his home on August 27, 2020. He was born on February 7, 1980, in Springfield, MO, to Lonnie Gene Massey and Tammy Sue Mahan Massey.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Gene Massey, and his mother Tammy Mahan Barrier. His paternal grandparents Clifford L. and Ada McBride Massey, and his maternal grandfather Richard Mahan. Several Aunts and Uncles; Darrell and Helen Massey, Sam Evans, Charley Smithey, Bob Jones, Kevin Mahan, Mary Ann Griffin, Sherry Kleinow, and cousins Sherry Massey Kaper, Kelsey Lane Williams, and  Leslie Payne.

Richard is survived by his wife of twenty years, Jennifer Joy Massey; his maternal grandmothers Carol Sue Coleman, and her husband, Clell, and Suzanne Mahan, a step-mother Sandra E. Mizer, three sisters, Tammy Nelson, and her husband, Larry, Krista Lowrance, and her husband, Scott, and Cindy Barnes, and her fiancé, Kevin Keagy, six brothers, Jeremy Massey, and his wife, Sarah, Nathan Barnes and Jason Barnes, and his wife, Mackenzie, Brandon McCabe, Dustin McCabe, and Michael McCabe, and his wife, Erin. Several Aunts and Uncles; Tommy Massey, and his wife, Beverly, and Denny Massey, and his wife, Sue, Beulah Smithey, Shirlene Jones, Janet Scott, and Linda Evans, Keith Mahan, Bill Mahan, and his wife April, Tina Mahan Calcote, Toby Mahan and a number of nieces and nephews and cousins as well as a number of other relatives and friends.

Richard grew up and in Lebanon Missouri and graduated from Lebanon High School with the class of 1998. Later while working at Tracker Marine in Lebanon, Missouri he completed his Associates in Information Technology from the University of Pheonix in 2012.

Richard was a loving and kind husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Richard was saved and followed the Baptist faith and fully believed that even though he was facing unbearable struggles that he was truly blessed and trusted in the will of God.

Richard enjoyed snuggling with his dogs, playing computer games with his wife, hunting, fishing, and technology of any kind, including ham radios, computers, and other gadgets.  His wife lovingly called him a High Tech-Hill Billy.

His family was very important to him and he always enjoyed being around and talking to all of them. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he created for them during his lifetime.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield, MO.
