Richard Gene Kates, 55, of Buffalo, MO, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023. He was born April 6, 1968, in Orlando, FL, to Billy and Linda Kates.

Richard had a passion for tattooing and skulls. He loved music and had learned to play the drums and the guitar. He had a knack for tinkering with and repairing motorcycles and in his free time could be found playing video games on his PlayStation.

He was preceded in death by his mom and dad; his sisters, Billie Jo Maxwell and Rachel Davis; his niece, Melissa Williams; and a half-brother.

Richard is survived by Barbra Starr; his daughter, Ruby Kates; siblings, Joe Kates and family, Marvin Kates, Billy Lee Kates Jr. and Frank Kates; a half-brother; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield.
