Walter "Ray" Wood, 81, of Springfield, MO passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was born to Walter and Edna Wood on February 21, 1943, and although he was born in Springfield, MO, he grew up Walnut Grove, MO.

Ray spent two years in the Army Reserves and was proud to be a firefighter in his community. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in the great outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Don Dixon.

Ray is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eyvon Wood; son, Michael Wood and wife Amy; daughter, Shari Follis and husband Sean; grandchildren, Trevor Follis and Peyton Follis; sister, Lewalta Wood; three nieces; one nephew; and a host of other family and friends. Ray is also survived by his beloved dogs, Zoey and Sugar.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
