Obituary

Ray Bailey was an affectionately devoted father and grandfather who took the utmost pride in dedicating his time to family. Throughout his life he committed to passing on the importance and value of family and spending time with loved ones. Ray spent most of his life in the Springfield, MO surrounding area raising his son and two daughters with their mother, Angela.

Ray enjoyed creating with his hands doing woodwork and tie-dye. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and was crafty with any machinery from tools to vehicles while also operating a tractor-trailer for many years and helped numerous others obtain their license to operate them as well. Ray was a hard worker with a profound work ethic that was demonstrated through the quality of his finished product and attention to detail. He could frequently be found on a golf course playing with his son, family, and friends where he shared many laughs and memorable moments that will continue to be reminisced by them in his passing. Ray understood the importance of those precious moments and persistently reminded those who gifted him with their time just how much it meant to him. Ray loved to laugh and joke, and his humor will be carried on through his kids/grandkids and their amusement for his stories and ability to find laughter even in trying times.

After being diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2016, Ray found an even deeper and richer love for those around him, God, and the blessing of living life to its fullest. His dedication to his family was the motivation to fight on and through his diagnosis. Ray found peace knowing he would be received by God and passed away in his home surrounded by his wife, kids, and grandkids. Ray is survived by his wife and mother of his children, Angela Bailey as well as their children and spouses; Channing, Hannah (Dalton) Gartland, and Taylor (Richard) Brock; along with four grandchildren and many other family members that will all carry on his legacy of love and laughter.

A celebration of Ray's life will be held on June 22, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a prayer at 1:00 pm at Hidden Valley Golf Course. Lunch and dessert will be provided, and the family asks that you come go as you please to visit with them and share stories and the impact Ray had in your life. As Ray would have it, the family will be wearing tie-dye, and you are welcome to participate but they would ask that you not wear black and keep the celebration informal.

Ray Bailey will be missed but his life will be remembered as one that was lighthearted, joyous, and full of laughter and love. His legacy to fight on and spread love on the journey will be ours to carry.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
