IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ramona
Eubanks
March 1, 1935 – March 23, 2024
Ramona Faye Eubanks
March 1, 1935 - March 23, 2024
Ramona Faye Sherwood Harris Eubanks was born in Springfield, Missouri on March 1, 1935, and grew up in Cedar Gap and Mansfield, Missouri where she was the eldest of four sisters, Rita, Angie, and Maxine. She selflessly supported her mother Sophrona Estelle and stepfather Harvey, helping to raise her younger sisters with kindness and care. After she graduated as salutatorian from Mansfield High School, she married her first husband Donald Eugene Harris and was a loving mother to her three children, Donald Alan, Leslie Eugene, and Linda Gayle. During her marriage to Don, she began her lifelong dedication to working in retail customer service and accounting while always being focused on her family and beaming positivity to all around her.
She later met her loving husband, Carl Junior Eubanks, in 1975 at a dancing mixer. They were married in 1978 and enjoyed 38 years together before Carl's passing. They blended their families into one, sharing the same love for her stepsons Martie and Tony as her children.
Ramona was always an active and engaged mom involved in all her children's activities - Sports, Scouts, Orchestra, Marching Band, Jazz Band - everything her children were involved in, she was there. Her involvement continued in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She adored all of her 13 grandchildren: Chad Alan Harris and his wife Erica Harris, Branton Taylor Harris and his wife Lindsey Harris, Major Price Matthew Harris and his wife Taylor Harris Ph.D., Olivia Jane Seals and her husband Andrew John Seals, Troy Harris and his wife Michael Harris, Angeline Presley and her husband Trent Presley, Rose Blackstock and her husband Josh Blackstock, Noah Eubanks, Kristoffer Eubanks, Levi Eubanks, Jessie Locke and her husband Aaron Locke, Phillip Eubanks and his wife Violet Eubanks, Callie Shortt and her husband Luke Shortt, and her great-grandchildren: Matthew Hasler, Kyle Presley, Wyatt Lewellen, Elizabeth Hasler, James Hasler, Sam Lewellen, Samantha Presley, Henry Harris, Zackary Blackstock, Samson Blackstock, Annabelle Blackstock, Emma Grace Blackstock, Maddix Eubanks, Riley Locke, Mia Locke, Sawyer Locke, Addison Harris, Harper Harris, Broderick Harris, Gisselle Harris, Evelyn Jane Seals, Winford Price Harris, Oliver John Seals, and Maverick Eubanks. As she was with her children, Ramona was present at every event of grandchildren's and great grandchildren's events as humanly possible while decorating her entire home with photos of them on Main Street in Republic, Missouri.
Ramona loved to cook, bake, and host family dinners on holidays, special events or just because. She was an avid game player of cards and board games but especially Uno, which became a family favorite. There was always so much fun and laughter in her home and at her table, and she often played late into the night with her children and grandchildren. She loved to dance, listen to Elvis and Johny Cash, and host joyful, family events. She especially enjoyed her lavish Easter celebrations when all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would dine with her and then spent the entire day competing in fast paced Easter egg hunts after morning church. They all fondly remember her wonderfully prepared meals and large family gatherings, particularly her famous adaptation of cashew chicken which will continue to be made by her family in remembrance of her.
Ramona was a loyal employee dedicated to her work and invested in her connections with people. Early in life she worked in the grocery business which led her to accounting at Ozark Grocer and then Quality Inn. After retiring from Quality Inn, she continued to enjoy working with the public by outfitting the wonderful women of Springfield at Dillard's in the Battlefield Mall where she always enjoyed looking her best and helping others to do the same. She ended her working career at Wal-Mart in Republic where she loved interacting with the community, exhibiting a work ethic surpassing colleagues far younger and beyond her manager's expectations.
Ramona was high-spirited, kind and sharing person who never met a stranger. She loved to live life to its fullest. She lived in Springfield, St. Louis, and Republic throughout her rewarding life and loved traveling with and to see her family all over the United States, playing with her many pets over the years especially her miniature schnauzers, Porsche and Pearl, and loved watching baseball live and on TV. There was only one "Game," and it was the St. Louis Cardinals.
Ramona was a devout Baptist and was baptized early in life. She attended Cedar Gap Church in her early life, and she was an early but not quite founding member of South Haven Church. Ramona and Carl found their home at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. They were very active in the church and have many close friends at Calvary to this day. Her everlasting faith was always present by her incredibly kind and loving personality.
Ramona was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her mother Sophrona and stepfather Harvey Maxville.
She is survived by her son Don Harris and his wife, Janie Harris; son Les Harris; daughter Linda Harris and her partner Kelly Martinez; stepson Martie Eubanks and his wife Nova Eubanks; stepson Tony Eubanks in addition to the previously mentioned 13 grandchildren and rapidly multiplying great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Rita Denney, sister Angie Dickson and her husband Keith Dickson, sister Maxine Claxton and her husband Dale Claxton along with their children and grandchildren plus many cousins, other family members and friends.
She will live forever in our hearts and our special memories. Her family and friends miss her dearly but take solace in knowing that she has moved on to her eternal life with her husband and by God's side.
