Price Clarence Kellar III (known by many as “Butch”) of Elwood, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, August 21st, 2026.
Price was born May 13th, 1959, to Price Clarence Kellar II and Patsy Jane (Humphrey) Kellar in St Louis, Missouri.
Price took great pride in the children who chose to be a part of his life, whether through the “Big Brother” program or the many children he welcomed into his life and raised along the way. He had an incredible ability to make an impact on the lives of those around him, and perhaps nowhere was that influence greater than with the countless young people he coached in basketball, football, and wrestling. Price had a deep passion for sports and found great joy in sharing that passion with others, encouraging young athletes and helping them discover their own strengths both on and off the field.
Price lived a life fuller than most. He knew no limitations and lived each day on his own terms. He practiced law until the day he died, lived and breathed Logan Chieftain football and Ohio State athletics, and spent his days on his farm surrounded by as many horses as he could fit- and then some. Over the years, Price was also loved fiercely by many good dogs, who were fortunate enough to share in his adventures and become an important part of his life.
Price is survived by his daughter Amanda (Kellar) Phillips, son in law Lee Phillips, and their children, Rilye, Addi, and Kellar Phillips of Buffalo, Missouri. His son, Austin Gardner (wife Lindsey) of Hawaii. His niece, Ali (Perry) Colson (husband Shaun) of Willard, Missouri. Siblings Kim Poggemoeller of Big Bend, West Virginia, Kevin Kellar of Troy, Ohio, and Sandra Kellar of Stuart, Florida. Price is also survived by many nieces (Erin, Jacque, Brittany, and Tara), nephews (Jake and Kevin), and dear friends all around the country.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you make donations to Logan Chieftain Athletic Department in Butch’s name:
Checks payable to LHS
Memo: list what sport you want it going toward (pick your favorite, Butch loved all sports)
Mail to: LHS 14470 St Rte 328 Logan, OH 43138
Per Price’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for close friends and family.
