IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phoebe
Carmody
November 27, 1951 – October 24, 2020
Phoebe Avis Carmody, 68, of Springfield, MO, passed away October 24, 2020. She was born November 27, 1951, in Springfield, MO, to Virgil and Avis Deckard.
Phoebe was a loving and protective sister. She enjoyed her teasing relationship with her brothers. She had the prettiest, sparkling blue eyes, the best laugh and was so funny. Phoebe loved animals, being outdoors and canoeing in the fall. She often organized the women's fall float trip. She was a great cook, very creative and was an amazing florist and designer. Phoebe was a hippie at heart, with a rebellious spirit but will also be remembered for her sweet and generous nature. She missed her mother everyday and never stopped loving David.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sue Minter; daughter, Heather Carmody; and grandson, Iven.
Phoebe is survived by her daughters, Avis Houston and Jenny Carmody; granddaughters, Emily and Ashley; grandsons, Ryan, Calvin and Solomon; siblings, Clint Deckard, Curt Deckard, Craig Minter, and many nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services.
She stands on the banks of a river.
It's been fun she says with a beautiful smile and her contagious laugh.
It's time now, for me to move one to the next arm of this river.
I see other canoes in the distance. Familiar faces.
I won't be alone, she says, as I cry.
Mom, don't go.
You must understand,
I must.
And when it is your time to go on this trip
I will be right here, at this very spot.
I love you too, were her last words
With that, with love alone, were her only belongings.
Her face to the sun, her back to this life,
She flowed with the current,
Into heaven eternally.
