IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter Matthew
Eisenhardt
May 20, 1956 – March 28, 2018
Peter M. Eisenhardt, left this world on March 28, 2018 from Mercy Hospital Springfield to stand in the presence of God receiving release from the pain and suffering of multiple myeloma.
He was born May 20, 1956 in Huntington Beach, CA to Edward and Norma (Becker) Eisenhardt. Peter was born with cerebral palsy and overcame the limitations of that condition with perseverance, stubbornness and intelligence becoming an independent successful man. He was an avid reader and life long lover of all things academic. His early education was spent between Blue Eye High School and Reed's Spring High School (class of 1976). He was the first of his family to receive a college degree in political science and history from the School of the Ozarks (class of 1980).There, via the work study program of "Hard Work University", he learned at the campus radio station the skills necessary for work as a master control operator in broadcast media. Peter re-embraced Catholicism while at S of O after an interruption of that education due to the death of his parents in his youth. His devotion and faith was strong and he felt he was called to the priesthood, but upon exploration and reflection of a significant time the Lord revealed an alternate plan. He then utilized his training in broadcast operations to gain employment with local television channel KSPR 33. He was employed there many years gaining skill and experience, then moved in 2002 to KY3TV where he worked until his diagnosis and hospitalization in August 2017. He counted himself fortunate to do such purposeful work making many good and dear friends over the years.
Peter loved cats very much. He shared his life with several from childhood (notably Figaro) and in his own home (his beloved Boo kitty, Winkle, and Twinkle). His passion for felines was such that some co-workers dubbed him the "Crazy Old Cat Bastard". A tag he accepted proudly and in the humor it was intended. Those who knew Peter well know he had a sharp mind and a dry acerbic wit that could be lethal. He loved to travel and loved fine food. These loves led him to develop a love for the city of New Orleans, which he visited many times in his lifetime enjoying its people, food, and rich history.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. He is survived by his sister, Anne Goodman, her husband, Bill, their daughter, Kelly Anne Goodman, his stepbrother, Tim Sarver, his brother by choice, John Farris, and dear friends including, but not limited to: Dorrie Hummel, Tom Dennis, Amy Leonard, Michael McDeVitt.
Peter's funeral mass will be April 11, 2018 at 1:30p.m. in the chapel at St. Agnes Cathedral. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Southwest Missouri Humane Society (swh.org) or Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri (

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield.
