IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nick
Stoughton
April 15, 1950 – February 25, 2023
Nicholas William Stoughton of Willard, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 25 th , 2023. He was born on April 15 th , 1950, to Paul and Emma Sue Stoughton of Garden Grove, California.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emma Sue Stoughton; and older brother Paul the 3rd.
He is survived by his wife Marsha; two sons, Matthew and Shane Stoughton and wife Kara; daughter Amy Stokes and husband Matt; younger brother Philip Stoughton and wife Debbie; grandchildren: Holly, Courtney and Emmaly Stoughton; Hailey, Brinley and Summer Stokes; and a great-grandchild Saylor Watts.
Nick was a man of strong faith in Jesus Christ. He made a profession of faith at a Billy Graham Crusade held in the L.A. Coliseum at the age of 13. Growing up, Nick was known for his goofy side. He was always playing pranks on his friends and family. On the 7 th of March 1969, he enlisted in the Navy, serving his country just shy of 4 years. He spent those years working as a boiler tender on the USS Norton Sound. God gifted Nick with multiple talents in carpentry, plumbing, landscaping and concrete design. Nick was continually in a creative state of mind. Even within days of his passing, he was busy crafting decorative handles on antique ice picks. Nick met his loving, wife Marsha at a Three Dog Night concert on a blind date in 1972. They spent the next 50 years building a beautiful life and family together. They recently celebrated their 50 th anniversary on November 18 th , 2022. For years, Nick and Marsha worked side by side creating concrete monument signs for their business, Monumental Mud Designs in Orange County, California. In 1993, they packed up their family of 5 and moved to Missouri. In August of 2002, they decided to travel the country together as over-the-road truck drivers for Covenant Transport, retiring together after 18 years of driving. In 2004, he built a beautiful log home for his family full of creative, custom, hand-made designs. Nick had a deep-rooted love for antiques and was a self-proclaimed "collector." Marbles, vintage toy cars, knives, and tools were just a few of the things he found joy in collecting. Working in his shop with his kids was something he never grew tired of. Nick equally spent as much time in prayer and reading his bible. He enjoyed teaching his kids and grandkids about Jesus and sharing with them the blessings God had given him.
Nick's family is comforted by the scriptural promise of his salvation in the Lord, Jesus Christ.
