Obituary

Mildred "Nettie" Waynette Wetherington, 86, of Springfield, MO passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023. She was born August 25, 1937, to Clyde and Cloie McNabb in Marshfield, MO.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Jonathan Wetherington Sr, her sisters, Beverly Baldwin, and Mary Helen Pennington, and brother Richard McNabb.

Nettie is survived by two sons, Jonathan Wetherington Jr., Jay Wetherington, and two daughters, Tammy Price and Karen Epps, and 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Elkland High School and attended SMS (now MSU) in Springfield, MO.  She met her husband, Jon Wetherington, while he was stationed at Fordland Air Force Base and were married in December 1955.  Shortly thereafter they moved to London, England and lived abroad for three years.  After returning to the states, and having children, they transferred around the US until settling in Marshfield, MO and lived there with her husband until 2019.

During her life she was employed at Zenith, Litton Credit Union, and helped to open Southern Missouri Bank, in Marshfield, and work there until retirement.

Nettie was an avid sewer and quilter, amazing at crocheting, and creating many things for her children and grandchildren alike.

She was an incredibly loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.

A celebration of life will be held on November 29th at 1:00 pm at Cassidy Station in Ozark, Missouri. A graveside service is scheduled at Missouri Veterans cemetery at 11:00 am, November 30th.
