Bolivar

Nancy Marie Barnes, 65, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on March 20, 2026, from complications with cancer, after facing her journey with strength, faith, and grace.

Nancy was a woman of deep faith who held a strong and personal relationship with God throughout her life. When she was first diagnosed, she often said, “God has me, and I’m going to fight for my girls and my grandbabies. I’m going to win.” Throughout her illness, she never complained or questioned why she was going through this journey. Instead, she carried a steady positivity, a strong spirit, and continued “keeping on keeping on” with quiet strength and unwavering faith.

She found joy in the simple and beautiful things—being outdoors, taking in the hills, staying active, and especially traveling alongside her daughter, Rachel. Those moments together meant everything to her.

More than anything, Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother—lovingly known as “GG”—and a second mom to so many. She shared an unbreakable bond with her daughter, Rachel—her best friend. Their relationship grew even stronger over the years as they navigated life’s hardships side by side, always holding onto each other with love and strength.

Nancy had a way of making everyone feel like family. She was known as “the cool mom,” the one who welcomed others in without hesitation. Because of her warmth and love, she gained many bonus children who loved her as their own.

She is survived by her daughter, Rachel; her bonus children, Brady (Karen) Hardin, Destany Brock, and Alex Reimer; and her eight cherished grandchildren, who knew and loved her as “GG” and brought her endless pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dwayne, and her beloved son, Nathan, who passed away in 2018. Nancy was a proud mother of two, and her love for both Rachel and Nathan never wavered.

Nancy will be remembered for her faith, her strength, her adventurous spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she built through love.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
