Namon Breshears

Namon Lee Breshears, 65, passed away on August 10, 2026, at Mercy Hospital after a courageous six-month battle following an accident. Through every difficult day, Namon showed remarkable strength and determination, surrounded by his family's love.

Namon was born on December 6, 1960, in Fair Grove, Missouri, to Claude Vernon Breshears and Laurene (Lightfoot) Breshears. The youngest of six children, he shared meaningful memories with each of his siblings, including Myrna Stevens, Nevin Breshears, and Norman Breshears.

Namon graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri, in 1979. Shortly after graduation, he joined Burlington Northern Railroad and completed several advanced certifications to further his career as a railroad welder. His certifications included the Thermite Welding training program at Johnson County Community College, completed on October 26, 1990; certification in electric arc welding for railroad repair, earned on December 18, 1992; and additional training and certification through the BNSF Thermite Welding Program in May 2000.

After joining the railroad, Namon moved to Springfield, Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Kelly Ann (Simmons) Breshears. The two were united in marriage on November 7, 1985. Over more than 40 years of marriage, they built a life together filled with love, laughter, family, and countless memories.

Together, Namon and Kelly raised three children and were blessed with nine grandchildren and one great-grandson: Mandie (Simmons) Huntley and her husband, Chris, and their children, Cameron, Kane, and Lillian; Candie Simmons and her husband, Andy, and their children, Bly, Jabe, Braeley, and Ash; Dustin "Dusty" Breshears and his wife, Jamie, and their sons, Caiden and Koby; and great-grandson, Xavier. Namon loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and time spent with his family was among the greatest joys of his life.

Namon was a hardworking man who spent 20 years with Burlington Northern and BNSF Railway as a foreman welder. He took great pride in his work and in the many years he dedicated to the railroad. After two decades of service, Namon retired in 2002.

Namon was truly one of a kind. He had his own unique way with words—almost a language of his own that, at times, only his family could fully understand. Over the years, many of Namon's words and sayings became part of the family's everyday vocabulary, bringing joy, smiles, laughter, and cherished memories. It was one of the many things that made him uniquely himself, and those little pieces of him will live on in his family's hearts forever.

Namon found joy in life's simple pleasures. He had a special love for motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons, and enjoyed the freedom of the open road and the fellowship of others who shared the motorcycle lifestyle. He also loved to garden and took great pride in tending the plants he grew. Above all else, Namon cherished time with his family. Whether gathered for a special occasion or simply spending time together, being surrounded by the people he loved meant the most to him.

He will be deeply missed by his wife; his children and their spouses; his nine grandchildren; his great-grandson; his siblings; his extended family, including many cousins, nieces, and nephews; his friends; and all those whose lives he touched. Though his time here on earth was far too short, the stories, laughter, love, and memories Namon leaves behind will remain with his family and friends for generations to come.

Namon was preceded in death by his parents, Claude "Vernon" and Laurene Breshears; his brother, Norman Breshears; his niece, Laura Beach; his nephew, Timmy Willis, whom he thought of as a brother; his brother-in-law, Ken Simmons, whom Namon truly cherished; and a very special brother-in-law, Charlie Weaver, whom Namon thought of as his bonus dad. While they are all deeply missed here on earth, our family finds comfort in the belief that they are together again in Heaven, enjoying one another's company and watching over those they love.

A celebration of life ceremony is being planned, and once details are finalized, we will share that information. All are welcome to attend.
