Obituary

Mike Stevens, 72, of Springfield, MO, was born in Mason City, IA on September 20,1952, to Robert "Bob" Stevens and Patricia "Pat" Elsbury Baldwin, and passed away May 4, 2025, after suffering a heart attack on Easter Sunday. Mike lived in several places growing up, but eventually settled in Southwest Missouri where he went on to meet the love of his life, Cindy. They were married July 3, 1978, and had three daughters and many grand and great-grandchildren.

As a skilled carpenter, locksmith, and mechanic, Mike was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed going to the races, building and riding Harley-Davidsons, muscle cars, and providing for his family while being especially passionate about music and animals. His smile was contagious and it forced you to do the same. He had a highly impressionable sense of humor and his girls remember growing up hearing him frequently belt statements like, "Let's blow this popsicle stand," "When the cows come home," and "I'll put a knot on your head a show dog can't jump." Mike lived life his way and his presence will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eric Lofton.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Cindy Stevens; daughters: Erin Nelson and husband Mike; Shannon Kirby and husband Cecil Jr.; and Stacy Stevens and partner Adam. In addition, his siblings: Susie Redden, Shellie Stevens, John Baldwin, Billy Beaty, Danny Stevens, and Robert Stevens.

Mike was a proud Papa to his eight grandchildren: Taylor Stevens, Jenna Stevens, Samantha Stevens, Dylan Nelson, Jessie Nelson, Cecil Kirby, III, Michael "Mikey" Clemens, and Lydia Miller. He was also blessed with seven great grandchildren: Sebastian, Willow, Meadow, Hunter, Montey, Presley, and Vanessa. Mike also had many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog and best friend, Shorty.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services.
