Melissa Wade

Melissa Marie Wade, age 45, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30th, 2026. She passed away peacefully at her home in Bolivar, Missouri.

Melissa was born on October 20, 1980, in Munster, Indiana. She touched many lives with her kindness, love of worship, and strong spirit.

On October 5, 2002, she married the love of her life Shawn Wade in Quincy, Illinois. They shared 23 years of marriage at the time of her passing. Melissa is survived by her husband, Shawn Wade; her loving children, Ashley (22), Rylan (20), Serenity (14) and Izzy (11) Wade; her father, Ross Bergen; mother, Barbara Bergen; sister, Nicole Bergen; and brother-in-law, Anthony Friedman. Melissa will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all her cherished family and friends.

Melissa is a follower of Jesus Christ. She loved to worship and dance before the Lord. Some of her favorite songs include Worthy of My Song (Phil Wickham), Goodness of God (Bethel Music), Worthy (Elevation Worship), Promises (Maverick City Music) Trust in God (Elevation Worship), How Great Thou Art/Great Is They Faithfulness (Carrie Underwood), The Cost (VI Worship).

Melissa had a heart for children and spent most of her life caring for them. She volunteered in the church nursery, in the Missionettes program, at Sunday School for four-year-olds, and ran a home daycare. Through the daycare she was able to help and support dozens of children throughout her life. Caring for kids was a big part of her life and one of her many gifts from God. Melissa also loved sledding and playing in the snow with her husband and children.

Melissa requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to children that are currently fighting cancer. Such as, Brayden’s fight against Neuroblastoma and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (gofund.me/b35d74d8). This combines the love that she had for children and her desire to help those in need of fighting this terrible disease.

Please join us at Brighton Highway Assembly of God located at 5403 Highway F, Brighton, MO 65617 on Tuesday April 7th at 6:00 p.m. It will be a time to worship our God and to join in a celebration of Life for Melissa.
