Mary Frances Smart, 78, of Springfield, MO passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023. She was born September 12, 1944, to Ancel H. and Betty A. Armstrong.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Paul Smart, her son Jack Ross Walker, lll, her sister Shirley Thomas and her beloved Parents and Grandparents.

Mary was most proud of and is survived by her children: daughters, Kimberly Jolley (Dan), Sally Parrish (Dave), Betty Deckard (Gary), Lynn Sing and her son, Shannon Mitchell (Carolyn). Her loving siblings, Oma Dean (Kevin), Becky Trantham (Rick), Tom Highfill and Bob Highfill (Karen). She also had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that were the light of her life. Special thanks go to her sisters Oma Dean and Becky Trantham for their loving support and dedication to Mary during her life. Special mention: Dale & Dagmar Snodgrass and Sherrie Williamson, whose tireless love, friendship and assistance was so appreciated.

Mary left school early to start a family. She worked hard. Besides being a Mother to six children and a homemaker, she cleaned homes and businesses and managed a few apartment houses in the area over the years. She worked at Katz retail store in her younger days. For many years, she was very involved with the Sertoma Club. Mary started swimming and playing bocce ball later in her life and enjoyed both immensely. She was also a fiercely competitive bingo and rummy player and loved sewing and crafting. Her late Dad Fred was her favorite country dance partner and she was a huge Chiefs fan!
