Mary Joyce Mershon, 75, Rockaway Beach, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 10, 1938, in Mattoon, Illinois, to William and Mary Fritcher. After many years, Joyce retired from the Mohave County Assessor's office in Kingman, Arizona. Since her retirement, she returned to Missouri and rekindled the relationship with her brothers. She enjoyed bowling and more recently, watching the many deer roam through her backyard. But most of all, she loved being "Aunt Joyce" and a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Mershon; and sons, Tony and Rollin Steeg; parents; and brothers, Homer, Ronnie, and Mike Fritcher. Joyce is survived by her children, Norman Steeg and Margaret Steeg; and step-daughter, Lisa Caraway; grandchildren, Shantel Nicole Steeg, Dericka Rae Badilla, and Jonathan Kai Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Neviah, Derek, Kai, Katie, Kalie, and Jackson; and brothers, Don, Chuck, Larry, Paul, Butch, and Norman Fritcher. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation & Funeral Services, Springfield.
