In Loving Memory of Mary Lee: A Life Full of Adventures
Mary was born November 5th, 1929, and passed away on August 11th, 2023. Mary's journey was one defined by her zest for life and her love for family and friends.
After graduating from Springfield Senior (Central) High in 1947, Mary moved to Kansas City to earn money for college. She joined the Bell Telephone Company where she dedicated herself to her work. Her commitment led her to remain with Southwestern Bell and then AT&T from which she retired. Mary had many adventures in her life with her sisters Wilma Wilkinson and Sharon Miller, and her dear friend Rita Waitzmann. These adventures included volunteering at cancer screening clinics, spending time at Table Rock Lake (Mary loved fishing), vacationing at a Dude Ranch, working on a Habitat for Humanity house, and wandering the country in Rita's RV. Fun and laughter accompanied Mary, her family and friends everywhere.
Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Lee, her sister, Wilma, with whom she had a very special bond, and Rita. She is survived by her sister, Sharon. Mary had many nieces, nephews, and their kids and grandkids who adored her. Mary had a warm heart and a quick wit that endeared her to so many. She never met a stranger.
Special thanks to Mary's caregivers and friends at Century Pines and Seasons Hospice who provided comfort and support in her final days.
