Mary Toy Kircher passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, at the age of 88. She was born in St. Louis, MO, July 8, 1926, the oldest daughter of Spencer Martin Thomas and Bettie Weaver Thomas. After graduating from Mary Institute, Mary Toy attended Hollins College for two years before transferring to Vanderbilt University where she earned a degree in sociology. She married Jerome F. Kircher Jr. in 1951 and they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on April 14, 2015. Mary Toy is survived by her husband, Jerry; their three children, Katherine Companik and husband Paul, Jerry Kircher III and wife Laura, Spencer Kircher and wife Diana Arnett; five grandchildren, Jennifer Curtis and husband John, Christopher Companik, Melissa Companik, Ashley Laken and husband Brad and Lindsey Kircher; one great-grandson, Drew Curtis; and her two sisters, Bettie Chester and Pattie Snyder, as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. A lifelong resident of St. Louis until moving to Springfield, MO, in 2012, Mary Toy enjoyed helping others through volunteering; giving her time and talents over the years to St. Louis Children s Hospital, The St. Louis Visitor s Center, The Girl Scouts and Interfaith Partnership. She was a member of Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church and for many years provided the flower arrangement for the Sunday Services. Mary Toy and her husband, Jerry, also believed in supporting the local community through membership in the Missouri Botanical Gardens, The Saint Louis Zoo, The Muny, and The St. Louis Art Museum. A memorial service will be held at a later date in The Old Meeting House, 2250 N. Geyer Road, Frontenac, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to The Interfaith Partnership, 483 E. Lockwood Ave, Suite 107, St. Louis, MO 63119. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield, MO.
