Mary Jane Clapper, age 76, of Fair Grove, died peacefully on January 28, 2014, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, MO, after a brief struggle with cancer. Mary was born March 4, 1937, in Wright County Missouri, the daughter of Sylvester Arthalony and Elta Lee Mace. She loved her family, cats, gardening, bird watching and crocheting. Mary graduated from Conway High School in 1956. Mary, her husband, Lynn Clapper, and their three children moved to Fair Grove, MO, in 1969 where she resided until her death. In addition to raising her children, she also owned and operated Mary s Caf on the Hill in Fair Grove and retired from Endless Summer in Springfield, MO. Mary is survived by her children, Donald Clapper and wife Joy of Springfield, MO, Timothy Clapper of Springfield, MO, Penny White of Magnolia, TX; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Arlo Arthalony and wife Pat of Rentin, WA; two sisters, Georgia Condray of Niangua, MO and Laura Lucich and husband Mike of Niangua, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. A memorial service will be held in her honor in the Brighton Assembly of God Church, Hwy F, Brighton, Mo. Services will be in the Rock Chapel. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield. Mary will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
