Mary Caldwell

Mary “Mimi” Lynn Caldwell (Matherly) was born on October 9, 1954, to Jim and Mary Matherly in Cabool, Missouri. 

Mimi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Caldwell; her parents, Jim and Mary Matherly; her brother, Bobby Matherly; and her sisters, Crystal Hopkins and Paula Aune (Marty). 

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Conway (Jerimiah); her son, Shane Remington (Theresa); and her stepdaughter, Stephanie Ewing. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Austin (Crystal), Jacob (Audrey), Jeremy, Alex, Drew (Kaylin), Dylan, Devin, Alyssa, and Seth; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends, all of whom she loved deeply and who loved her just as much. 

Mimi lived a life filled with love, laughter, and curiosity. She adored her family and cherished every moment she was able to spend with them. Her wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and fierce loyalty made her a constant source of laughter and joy to those fortunate enough to know and love her. Mimi had a love for cats like no other and cared for several throughout her life. Most would often joke that her cats were taken care of better than most humans—and anyone who knew Mimi knew there was probably some truth to that! She also adored her “grandpups,” Ruger and Kingston. Ruger held an especially sweet place in her heart. She spent nearly every day with him for the past five years, and the two became the very best of buddies. 

Mimi found happiness in life’s simple and comforting pleasures. She loved gardening and being outdoors, reading, working puzzle books, journaling, telling stories, playing Scrabble, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and the people she loved. Those who knew Mimi will remember her exactly as she was—feisty, funny, witty, fiercely loyal, and wonderfully no-nonsense. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, and you rarely had to wonder what Mimi was thinking. That was simply part of what made her so special and so very loved. 

Although her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, the love, laughter, stories, and memories Mimi gave us will remain forever. Mimi’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of the family she treasured so dearly.
