On Friday September 11, 2020, Martin (Mike) Worm lost his fight to cancer at the age of 76 in Springfield Mo. surrounded by family. Mike was born on September 6, 1944 in Freistatt, Mo. to Ernest Worm and Nora Joeckel. At the age of 12 his father, Ernest died suddenly leaving Nora to raise Frances, Marcell and Mike alone.

He graduated Monett Mo. High school. After graduating he met the love of his life, Janet Ruggles, later marrying on June 19, 1965.  (recently celebrated 55 yrs. of marriage) Shortly after, he volunteered to serve the US Army during Vietnam.  While stationed in Germany they had their first daughter Amy.  After his service they made a home in Verona, Mo. and he began working at the Post Office in Springfield, Mo. where he would retire 33 yrs. later in 2004.  They welcomed two more daughters Emily and Erin during this time.

Mike was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Faith, which is what guided him to become a great example, to all his family, on how to live life.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking Janet horseback riding, camping, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, hunting, and fishing.

Mike is survived by Janet; three daughters, Amy Vickery and husband Adam of Verona, MO, Emily Baker and husband Chris of Aurora, Mo, and Erin Lucke and husband Ben of Pierce City, Mo; one sister, Marcell Mitchell and her son Shawn of Springfield, MO; and 11 Grandchildren and  3 Great Grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Nora Worm; and one sister, Frances Scates.

A Celebration of Life is planned for family and close friends Saturday, September 19 ^th .
