Marliss Ann Detmers, 88, of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully Friday, December 2, 2022. She was born November 18, 1934, to Elon and Freida Tollin in Norwood City, MN.
Marliss was preceded in death by her parents, her sister June Glaholt, and brothers Elon D. and Curtis Tollin.
Marliss led a full and active life to the end and was the most proud of her family. She is survived by her husband, Wesley J. (Jack) Detmers, son Sean W., daughter-in-law Hilary Detmers, granddaughter Theresa Alioto, grandson-in-law Jonathan Ingram, and great-grandchildren Anthony, Sarah, Addison, and Samuel. She was a deeply beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be sorely missed.
Marliss and Jack were married July 30, 1955, in Fargo, ND. Marliss was a woman of strong faith and a powerful prayer warrior. She extended her faith by supporting many local and international charity organizations.
Marliss graduated from High School in Detroit Lakes, MN in 1952. She then worked at Dakota Plate Glass in Fargo, ND. Other jobs included Church Secretary at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Denver, CO, Clerk at Mountain Bell, and in the Financial Office of the State of Colorado.
She was a talented Scottish Highland Dancer, painter, and bronze sculptor. She and Jack were lifetime members of the St. Andrew Society of Colorado. She was active in the Conifer (CO) Hobby Fair for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jacob's Ladder Hospice in Springfield, MO.
