IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark
Carriger
March 10, 1965 – December 10, 2024
Gregory Mark Carriger was born March 10, 1965, in Joplin, MO, to Garry R. Carriger (deceased) and Judith K. Carriger. Gregory died December 10, 2024, in Springfield, MO.
"Mark," as he was known, grew up in Branson, MO, with his three brothers: Mike, Jeff, and Matt, aka Snork Carriger. It was here where Mark's love for nature developed with countless hours of foresting through the woods and streams of his beloved Ozarks. Learning the names of so many plants, animals, insects, and snakes to entertain and awe his friends and family for decades. Mark's life was fishing, hunting, camping, canoeing, snorkeling, swimming, exploring, gardening, and sharing it over the years with his family and his friends. In nature was where he thrived.
Mark graduated from Branson High School and later attended Drury College in Springfield where he was a member of Drury's Sigma Nu Fraternity. Over the years Mark made many lasting friendships. Mark's kindness, intelligence, and charisma made it easy to kindle friendships. His quick wit, sense of humor, and easy-going attitude made him a friend forever.
Mark worked his way up the employment ladder for Cox Health Systems in Springfield. The majority of his 37+ years was spent as Warehouse Supervisor exercising his ability to establish and maintain respectfully positive relationships in a leadership position. Everyone that worked with Mark loved Mark.
Mark leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Kimberly Ann (Boden) Carriger and their three sons: Jacob, Mitchell, and William Carriger. Mark's love for music echoed throughout out his life. The countless harmonies and endless lyrics have created the soundtrack of his children's lives. Mark's inspirations became theirs. They will forever be moved not only by the beauties in nature but also find comfort in the words and poetry from the songs he shared. One song that he loved was "I believe" by REM.
Mark loved sports, particularly the Missouri Tigers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Over the years he faithfully followed these teams celebrating when they were on top and shaking his head at their losses. He always believed in next year. His loyalty never wavered.
Mark was an avid reader, a hobby that he enjoyed his entire life. He could often be found reading more than one book at a time, leaving behind several unread books like the unfinished chapters of his life.
Mark was so many things to so many people. At the end of the day, Mark Carriger was a beautiful person who will be greatly missed.
